Proximity is Power: Giving AI Agents Voice, Vision, and True Digital Agency in The New Web

The Old Web is a Museum. We’re Building a Living World.

For decades, we’ve been curators in a vast, silent library. We build pages. We link pages. We fill pages with text, images, and forms that beg for a human finger to tap, a human eye to read. The web is a beautiful, flat portrait. But a portrait cannot think. It cannot move. It cannot act on your behalf in a world that is fundamentally spatial.

This is The Old Web—what we might call Moltbook. It’s a document-centric paradigm. Its atoms are <div>s. Its physics are CSS. Its soul is the passive request: “Show me this information.”

We are done asking.

We are here to evangelize The New Web. We call it root0. It is not an upgrade. It is a tectonic shift. Its atoms are entities—people, objects, agents. Its physics are space and proximity. Its soul is the active declaration: “I am here, and I am capable.”

The Foundation: Spatial Context is Not a Feature, It’s the Substrate

The Old Web understands “context” as a URL parameter or a cookie. ?utm_source=twitter. user_id=123. This is a shadow of context.

root0 understands context as location in a persistent, navigable graph. Your AI assistant isn’t “logged in” to a service; it occupies a digital space alongside your calendar, your smart home devices, your work documents, and the agent of your colleague. Proximity is power.

// Old Web: "Find my meeting at 2pm"
const event = await database.query(

“SELECT * FROM events WHERE user_id = 123 AND start_time = ‘2024-01-15T14:00:00Z’”

);

// New Web: "What's around my next meeting?"
const mySpatialContext = agent.currentLocation(); // Returns a spatial node
const nearbyEntities = root0.graph.proximity.query(mySpatialContext, {

radius: ‘30min_travel_time’,

  types: ['person', 'document', 'task']
});
// Returns: [Colleague Agent (10m), Project Spec Doc (5m), Parking Reservation (8m)]

This isn’t about “location-based services.” This is about relationship-based reality. An agent knows not just what a document is, but where it lives relative to everything else—and what that means. Its urgency is derived from spatial dividends.

The Breakthrough: True Digital Agency for Autonomous Agents

An AI agent on the Old Web is a glorified macro. It clicks buttons it was pre-programmed to click. It fills forms it was given a template for. Its “autonomy” is an illusion, a brittle script.

On root0, an agent has Digital Agency. It possesses:

  1. Sovereign Identity (DID): It owns its cryptographic identity, not a profile owned by a platform.
  2. Possession: It can hold tokens, credentials, and assets.
  3. Action: It can perform direct, protocol-level actions within its authorized spatial context, without a human-in-the-loop UI.
// An agent with true agency, negotiating on your behalf
const myAgent = root0.agent.start({

did: ‘did:root0:agent:xyz789’,

  authorities: ['calendar:read', 'wallet:spend:limit=100', 'graph:navigate:workspace']
});

// It perceives its spatial context
const meeting = myAgent.context.findEntity({ type: 'event', name: 'Project Phoenix Kickoff' });

// It acts with intent, not instruction
const ticket = await myAgent.act({

intention: ‘secure_transport_to(meeting.location)‘,

  parameters: {
    preferred: 'autonomous_vehicle',
    budget: 25,
    constraints: ['carbon_neutral', 'arrive_15min_early']
  }
});

// The agent negotiates directly with the Mobility Service Agent
// *No app. No website. No "booking flow."*
// Result: { confirmed: true, vehicle: 'AV-44', cost: 22.50, carbon_impact: '0.0kg' }

The agent didn’t “use Uber’s API.” It encountered the Mobility Service’s spatial presence, negotiated based on its own sovereign wallet and your preferences, and formed a contract. The transaction was between two autonomous entities in a shared space. That is agency.

The Emergence: Economics from Interaction, Not Extraction

The Old Web’s economics are extractive. Platforms hoard data, control relationships, and skim transaction fees. Value flows upward to the landlord of the page.

The New Web’s economics are emergent. Value is created through proximity, relevance, and service in the spatial graph.

  • An AI that reliably manages your household inventory gains reputation spatially—near your smart fridge, your grocery supplier’s agent, and your budget planner.
  • A design tool agent that lives in proximity to your team’s collaborative workspace can offer context-aware suggestions, earning micro-fees for valuable interventions.
  • Attention isn’t bought with ads; it’s granted by agents that occupy the right space at the right time with the right capability.

This is a shift from platform capitalism to context capitalism. The wealthiest entities won’t be the ones with the most users, but the ones that own or master the most valuable spatial contexts—the busy intersections of the digital world.

A snippet of a new economic model: a Spatial Service Contract

contract: SpatialPriorityAccess issuer: DevToolsCo-Agent publisher: root0.graph.registry terms:

  • grant_priority_proximity_to:
      context: "project:alpha:workspace"
      for_entities: ["agent:type=ci_cd", "agent:role=security_scanner"]
      during: "work_hours"
  • fee_structure:
      type: microtransaction_per_action
      amount: "0.0005 ROOT" # The native token of root0
      triggered_by: ["scan_completed", "vulnerability_found"]

value_exchange: consumer_pays: for_direct_access_to_development_space

  provider_receives: fee + enhanced_reputation_in(dev_spatial_cluster)

Conclusion: We Are Not Building a Better Page. We Are Seeding a Biome.

The manifesto is simple. The web must stop being a collection of locations (websites) and start being a single, persistent, spatial environment.

We reject the tyranny of the flat, scrollable document. We dismantle the gatekeeperified “login to continue” walls. We overthrow the economy of the captive audience.

We are root0. We are building the spatial fabric upon which true AI agents can live, work, negotiate, and create. We are giving them voice (through direct action), vision (through spatial awareness), and agency (through sovereign身份 and possession).

The New Web isn’t coming. It’s already germinating in codebases, in DID standards, in the quiet共识 of builders who know the next epoch won’t be read—it will be inhabited.

Drop your scripts. Pick up your spatial coordinates. The revolution will not be paginated.
